1) BRITISH. Overall length: 40 1/2". Blade length: 32 1/4". This sword dates to the reign of Edward VII between 1901 and 1910. The blade has a single wide fuller 11” long. The blade is etched over the first 15” with various foliate & scroll motifs, including a crowned royal arm and a crowned “ER VII.” Polished steel hilt with pierced basket guard incorporating a pierced crowned “ER VII” in the knuckle bow. The backstrap is crosshatched, and the grip is wire-wrapped sharkskin. Plated iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade appears to retain some original factory polish but is quite dirty. Hilt has a medium gray patina mixed with the original surface. Grip is better than 90%, and the wire is complete. Scabbard is undamaged but does have some loss of plating. 2) BRITISH. Overall length: 39". Blade length: 32 1/2". This sword dates to the reign of George VI between 1936 and 1952. The blade has a single wide fuller 11” long. The blade is etched over the first 19” with various foliate & scroll motifs, including a crowned royal arm and crowned “GR VI.” The ricasso is marked “W.J. WATERER SWORD MAKER LONDON.” The hilt is polished steel with a pierced basket guard incorporating a crowned “GR VI” in the knuckle bow. The backstrap is crosshatched, and the grip is wire-wrapped sharkskin. Red leather-covered wooden scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark gray patina with some light staining. Hilt has a dark patina overall. Grip is 98% complete. The wire is 100%. The leather covering of the scabbard has shrunk a bit, and the attachment thong near the throat is broken. 3) BRITISH. Overall length: 42”. Blade length: 35 1/2”. A British P1822 dragoon saber having a blade with a single wide fuller and unmarked ricasso. Iron semi-basket guard with 2 branches to the front and 1 small branch to the rear, showing a downturned quillon. The top of the guard is marked “H 38.” Slightly stepped pommel with an eared backstrap. Leather grip. The iron scabbard is stamped “4 D G D 49” near the throat. CONDITION: blade has a light to medium gray patina with traces of pitting, particularly near the tip. The hilt has a medium gray/brown patina. Grip leather is dry but present, and no wire remains. Scabbard has a few minor shallow dents. 4) AUSTRIAN. Overall length: 38”. Blade length: 31 5/8”. The blade has a single wide fuller and is stamped at the ricasso “CARL GRASSER HOF WAFFENFABRIK WIEN” on one side and is stamped with four proof marks and a large “P” on the other. The hilt is plated with a 1 1/4" drop quillon below two slots. Plain knuckle bow & backstrap. Wire-wrapped sharkskin grip. Plated iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows original factory polish but appears to have been sharpened. Hilt shows light wear. Scabbard shows moderate wear. 5) EUROPEAN. Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 1/2". Plain pipe-back blade. Sheet iron hilt with a teardrop opening in the knuckle bow and a small rectangular slot at the front of the guard. The top of the backstrap is crosshatched, and a flat on the backstrap is stamped "L2067." 1-Piece wood grip. The iron scabbard is stamped at the throat “G7718.” CONDITION: blade has a medium gray patina. Hilt has a very dark patina. Grip is complete. Scabbard also has a dark patina with a notable dent near the drag. (02-21831/BF). $1,100-1,500.
