& PLATES. This fine lot includes 1 early Civil War M1851 sword belt plate with a mismatched, but well fitting, keeper. Buckle is gilded brass with a spread wing eagle on the front & applied silver wreath. The reverse has a narrow tongue. / 1 Late Civil War M1851 sword belt plate with the original keeper. Buckle is gilded brass with a spread wing eagle on the front engulfed by a swag of laurel leaves. The reverse has a medium tongue. / 1 Excavated NCO 3 hook cross belt plate. The face has a chocolate brown patina & features a droop wing eagle. The reverse has 3 heavily rusted, but extant, hooks. / 1 US M1839 small box plate. The face is gilded brass with a central “US” in an oval. The reverse has 2 iron loops & is clearly stamped “W.H. SMITH BROOKLYN”. / 1 Post Civil War militia buckle of gilded brass with clipped corners. There is a silvered large letter “E” on the front. The reverse has a wide tongue.
