WALT DISNEY STUDIOS IN CALIFORNIA. These hand painted patch designs on cardstock were created for the leather patches on flight jackets of the Air Corps and related entities. They were designed & painted at The Walt Disney Studios in California during WWII. The patch designs were to be disposed of but were rescued by a construction crew working at the Disney Studios. They were in turn sold to the foreman Frank Fitzgerald, who in turn sold them to Ron Fisher & John Holt. The collection was purchased from Mr. Holt in 1996 by Donald Denninger. This group of 6 patch designs include the Coastal Patrol Civil Air Patrol Squadron, the 72nd Liaison Squadron, the 162nd Liaison Squadron, the 47th Liaison Squadron, the 816th Bombardment Squadron, and the 3rd Task Force Civil Air Patrol Squadron. All the patch designs seem to utilize the same blue, yellow, white, red, and black color pattern. CONDITION: all patch designs are in solid condition with some showing mild craquelure. The patch designs were at one time pasted into an album but have been removed. (02-19853-7/BF). $750-1,000.
