SCABBARDS. This fascinating group of 8 miniature daggers includes 1 first model Luftwaffe dagger measuring 9 7/8" overall with a plain blade and blue leather grip and scabbard body. / 1 Imperial Navy dagger measuring 7 3/8" overall with a plain blade and white grip that includes a miniature knot. / 1 Second model Luftwaffe dagger measuring 9 1/2" overall with a blade that is etched "OHLENDORF & FRANCKE HANNOVER". Orange wire-wrapped grip with aluminum fittings. / 4 Second model Luftwaffe daggers measuring 9 1/2" overall with plain blades. Wire-wrapped grips are various shades of yellow to dark orange. Two daggers have partial knots attached. / 1 Second model Luftwaffe dagger measuring 7 3/4" overall with a blade that is etched "E. & F. HORSTER SOLINGEN". Wire-wrapped deep yellow grip and partial knot attached. CONDITION: all blades show primarily factory polish. Scabbards are a bit oxidized but quite solid. Silver fittings on first model Luftwaffe have a pleasing dark tarnish. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18313/BF). $1,000-1,400.
