CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 19754. The 26" damascus barrels are marked with "VL & "D" info at rear of matted game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with Belgian proofs and "Francotte's Chokebore". Bottoms of barrels are marked "NOT FOR BALL" and with S#'s, one of which is 20754 obviously a mistake. Boxlock action features automatic safety, cross bolt third fastener and double triggers. Action is engraved with sprays of scroll. Both sides are also engraved "A. Francotte Maker & Patentee London". S# is on trigger guard tang. Well figured European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14 5/8" over 3/4" thick hard rubber checkered buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching short splinter forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .725. R .724. Restriction: L .030 (Full). R .011 (IC). Wall thickness: L .030. R .031. STOCK: DAH: 2 5/8". DAC: 1 1/2". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 14 5/8". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 2 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes in a dark brown alligator patterned leather case with nickel plated trim. Case is lined in blue velvet and reproduction Francotte label is in lid. CONDITION: good with refinishing. Barrels retaining a fair amount of what appears to be original brown with evidence of cleaning and some rubbed in cold blue. Action is mostly silver gray. Stocks have most of an old oil refinish with many marks. Checkering is considerably worn, almost flat in some places. Pitted bores have been polished and are shiny; forcing cones lengthened otherwise mechanically good. Case is good with some rubs; interior cloth with compressions. (23-2129/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
