BUTTONS, AND A LARGE GROUP OF UNIFORM BUTTONS FROM THE ANTEBELLUM PERIOD THROUGH THE MID-20TH CENTURY.
1) CONFEDERATE & UNION EXCAVATED. This group includes 1 NC-8-type button with shank. / 1 NC-16-A type button with no shank. / 1-SC-15-B2 type button with shank. / 1 Medium sized Charleston Police button with shank. Button has a severe push. / 1 Large Cherokee Rose button with no shank. / 1-NA-101-type button with no shank. / 1 OD-3-B button with shank and some rim damage. / 1 OD-3-Bv cuff button with shank. / 10 Coat sized Union Army General service buttons. / 6 Cuff sized Union Army General service buttons. CONDITION: all buttons are excavated and show dark patinas. Buttons are generally considered in good condition except as noted.
2) ANTEBELLUM THROUGH MID-20TH CENTURY. This interesting group contains 2-CS-86 type buttons. In our opinion the more legible button is original and the well worn example is an early reproduction. / 1 Small Naval interlocking buckle (tongue only) possibly for a Naval dirk. / 5 Large Civil War Navy buttons. / 4 Large MS-26-A1 buttons with resoldered shanks. / 1 Large RI-7 button with an Evans back mark. / 1 MS-35-type button. / 1 Yankee staff. / 8 Cuff sized Yankee buttons. / 1 Cuff sized transitional VA-13-type button. / Approximately 83 post Civil War uniform buttons of various types. Most are American with a couple foreign examples and most are not excavated with a few dug examples. CONDITION: all buttons generally show light wear except as noted above.
