SHOTGUN, SERIAL NUMBER 122. Cal. 16 Ga. S# 122. Bbl. 32" of Damascus steel with bead front sight and fixed U-notch rear sight. Right flat marked “Patent Arms M’g. Co. Paterson, N. J. – Colt’s PT.” Round 6 shot cylinder is 3 1/2" in length. Elaborate roll engraved scene features Colt markings, scrolls, naval battle scene, land battle and Hunter with trophy lion. Action features a center mounted hammer and finger curled trigger guard. Top tang has unmarked rectangular silver presentation plate. Frame, cylinder, bbl. and wedge have matching numbers “122”. Straight grip walnut stock has deeply dished iron buttplate. A total of about 225 were manufactured 1839-1841. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to gray showing small dents and marks. Cylinder retains approximately 75% weakened scene. Refinished stock shows numerous scratches, marks and dents. Action is tight and sound. Bore shows intermittent areas of pitting. (01-21888/DS).
