143rd PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY. This fine group includes 1 regulation 58 cal. cartridge box with both tins intact, and a brass "US" in oval box plate on the front. / 1 Leather belt with a spade hook "US" in oval plate on the front. / 1 Civil War 58 cal. bayonet with a partial scabbard and frog. / 1 Cap box with interior wool pad but no pick. / 1 Bull’s eye canteen with a partial sling. / 1 Eagle cross belt plate marked on the reverse "W.H. SMITH BROOKLYN." All of these accoutrements are housed in a wooden and plexiglass display case. Accompanying the accoutrements is a framed pension document from Adam Hain attesting to his service and his pension of $14 a month. CONDITION: cartridge box shows light wear, as does the cap box. The waist belt shows moderate wear with some insect damage. The canteen also shows moderate wear with no notable dents. The bayonet shows some discoloration mixed with original finish, and the cross belt plate shows light wear. (02-22945/BF). $1,000-1,500.
