Water table and bottom of bbl has London proofs with added 12ga, 70mm chamber length markings. Unusual action with rear sliding top lever release. Rebounding Bar-in-Wood locks, double triggers, and extractors. Locks and fittings have 50% coverage scroll engraving. Locks have Adams Patent markings. Wedge fastened horn tipped walnut forearm and straight hand stock of fancy English walnut. Stock features hand checkering and drop points. LOP: 14 5/16" to a checkered butt with engraved steel, heel and toe caps. DAC: 1 3/4". DAH: 2 1/4". Near neutral cast. BORE DIAMETER: (RT): .726. (LT): .729. CHOKE CONSTRICTION: (RT): .004. (LT) cylinder bore. MINIMUM WALL THICKNESS: (RT): .033. (LT): .027. WEIGHT: 6lb, 13.8oz. John Adams operated at the Strand address from 1864 to July, 1881 until the operation was re-established as the William Watts Locke Co. CONDITION: bbls have lightly faded browned finish. Action and fittings have faded brown appearance. Stock and forearm show moderate finish and checkering wear with scattered scratching and marks. Sound action and lock. Good bright bores.
