Overall length 15 5/8". Plain blade marked near the ricasso “A C (logo) S Alcosa SOLINGEN”. Plated cross guard with army eagle. Oak leaf embellished pommel & ferrule. Solid ivory grip determined to be elephant ivory dating to the manufacturer of the dagger 1933-45. Dagger also has a correctly tied silver bullion knot attached. Plated scabbard with original hangers intact. CONDITION: blade shows some scabbard wear. Mounts have a pleasing dark tarnished finish. Ivory grip has a few expected drying cracks. Scabbard has a dark tarnished finish. Hangers show light overall wear. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18279/BF). $800-1,100.
