BARREL SET DA REVOLVER WITH U.S. MARKING ON BUTT. Cal. 44-40. S# 5990. Bbl. 7 1/2" ribbed with pinned blade front sight. Mfg. for Merwin & Hulbert by Hopkins & Allen. Matching numbers on frame, cyl, & both bbl assemblies. Folding hammer. Square butt with lanyard ring. Bottom of butt Stamped "US". Factory quality period renickel. Left side of frame marked "CALIBRE / WINCHESTER 1873". 2 Piece checkered hard rubber grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: glass topped red velour shadowlined wooden presentation case with plaque marked "US TEST GUN SER. NO. 5990". Matching unribbed bbl. with integral front sight. CONDITION: very good overall, Frame & bbl. assemblies retain 90% nickel with scattered small spots of flaking & light oxidation. Cyl retains 20% nickel; mainly in flutes. U.S. marking is sharp.
