SERIES II TYPE 14 NAMBU SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 6282. Bbl. 4 5/8". Type 14 Nambu semi-automatic pistol mfg. at Nagoya's Toriimatsu arsenal in December of 1943. Left side of the frame is marked with Kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the Nagoya / Toriimatsu arsenal insignia, followed by the Series II marking and S#, above the Showa date code "18.12" marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Bolt and locking block exhibit a straw finish, with the firing pin being polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, mag. release button, bbl./bbl. extension, bolt, firing pin, firing pin extension, locking block, as well as the grips and mag. MAGS: one 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light wear, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Bbl. exhibits a small area of pitting on the left side. In-the-white and strawed parts exhibit areas of dark age-related discoloration. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some light superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain very good overall. An attractive, all-matching example of a Toriimatsu Series II Type 14 Nambu. (24-6504/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
