FLINTLOCK FUSIL. Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 38" 2 stage bbl. w/ bayonet lug, 53 1/2" overall. This "as found" fowler is from the collection of Bill Guthman, well known American dealer of colonial period Americana. This gun has seen a lot of use but well taken care of w/ a wonderful heavy braised iron collar screwed into place over silver wrist escutcheon w/ unknown set of script initials below wire inset "1769". Decorated silver buttplate, triggerguard & thimbles all fine silver as is the delicate pierced side plate w/ cannon bbl. & sword hilt, pitch fork & drapery w/ thistles. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: file concerning collectors notes, photos, etc. CONDITION: very good overall w/ contemporary wrist repair. Old tack repair to triggerguard. Stock has hand worn patina. Broken through forward of rear pipe w/ several breaks & cracks toward muzzle but forestock still complete w/ last inch broken on right side. Old replacement brass tipped iron ramrod of later era, iron patina to bbl., lock & wrist repair. Silver furniture worn & patinated. Mechanically functional w/ clear smooth bore.
