FRENCH DOG FIGHT. This unframed painting shows a dog fight between WWII German Messerschmitt aircraft and French Curtiss P36 aircraft. There is also a parachuted pilot, presumably from a downed German aircraft in the center of the painting. The painting is dated "6 NOVEMBRE 1939" within an inscription in the bottom right-hand corner of the painting. The painting is boldly signed "Paullengelle" at the bottom right-hand corner, along with an impressed mark. The overall size of the painting is approx. 22 3/4" x 30 1/4". This would be a striking centerpiece for any WWII aviation collection. CONDITION: painting shows no damage, and all colors are exceptionally vibrant. (02-23091/BF). $300-500.
