FIRST ISSUE REVOLVER. Cal. 22. S# 4007. Scarce first issue configuration, manufactured 1858-1859, 3.2" barrel, one line address, full custom engraved barrel, cylinder, and frame. Barrel is blued and frame silver plated. "Maj. J. C. Smith, 5th OVC" commemoratively engraved on back strap. CONDITION: very good overall as refinished, complete & matching serial numbers and assembly markings. Revolver retains most of blue & silver finish. Grips are sound and well fit with traces of original varnish. Mechanically functions sporadically, doesn't lock cylinder and doesn't rotate cylinder every time, good rifled bore.
