BELONGING TO 101 RANCH RODEO COWBOY JACK CASE WITH TRAVEL TRUNK. Cal. 44-40. S# 65852. Mfg. 1881 and shipped to Hartley & Graham, New York, NY. in Aug. of that year. Case was born in 1902 and left home when he was very young and began traveling with traveling entertainment shows. He later joined the rodeo circuit where he won a World Round Championship Cowboy where he received a silver mounted saddle, bridle and belt buckle. He was a Hollywood double for Tom Mix, Ken Maynard and a few others. In 1937 Life magazine featured a 2 page spread on him while he was at Reno's Nevada Stock Farm working horses at the ranch. A copy of the edition is included with this lot. In the 1930s he acquired an Arabian Colt named Rex "The Wonder Horse" which was used in movies and later his "Bar 20 Ranch Western Stage Show" that operated throughout the 1930-40s. This revolver surfaced in a cataloged auction in 2004 where it was sold alongside 5 other 101 Ranch "Wild West" items from Jack & Betty Case. Accompanying the revolver is a folder with hand written "Betty Case/Private" on the cover and tickets glued to the inside front cover and a 1934 Madison Square Garden World Series Rodeo program with Jack listed as contestant "155" on the inside of the back cover. The folder contains research and family history of Jack and a factory letter. The revolver features a custom foliate scroll engraving found on nearly every part and his name engraved on the bottom of the bbl. The bbl is 7.5" with 1-line Hartford address. The frame is engraved "101" on the front and carries a 3-line patent roll stamp. The frame and cyl are the only numbered parts which are matching. The other numbers were removed when engraved. It is stocked with custom 1-piece walnut checkered grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: in addition to the paperwork there is a Hutchings Briley Calgary, NWT double loop holster with H.S. initials. and a travel case with photos and tickets fastened to the lid.
