RIFLE. Cal 38-40. S# 314770B. Bbl. 24" round with German silver blade front sight & elevator adjustable sporting rear. Mfg 1889 with full blue metal finish. Uncheckered walnut straight grip stock & forend. CONDITION: metal retains traces of original blue finish in protected areas with balance displaying an overall brown patina along with areas of light to moderate pitting, notably at muzzle end of bbl. & mag tube. Bottom right side action screw appears replacement. Wood retains traces of original finish with scattered light scratches & dings. Receiver end of forend exhibits small wood losses on all sides. Dark bore retains intact rifling. Mechanically in need of attention as lifter does not drop when closing lever and must be manipulated manually. Trigger requires stronger than normal pressure to utilize. May just be in need of a cleaning but unable to verify for certain. Overall a nice of a well used, but not abused, Winchester 1873, "the gun that won the west". (01-25991/BH). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800
