RING CARBINE. Cal. 30 WCF. S# 68289. Bbl. 20". Model 1894 lever-action saddle ring carbine mfg. by Winchester in 1896. Left side of the bbl. is marked with Winchester's mfg. and patent information, followed by "NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER," and the cal. designation. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Plain wood straight grip buttstock and forend have been sanded and revarnished at one time. Marble's 94-C brass beaded blade front sight, with Redfield U-notch rear sight. Saddle ring is present. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting a few areas of mild wear and thinning, with scattered spots of surface oxidation, as well as pitting beneath the bluing present overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent pitting and oxidation while retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks, minor impressions, as well as a few small repairs, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (01-26065/MLW). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
