FROM RHODE ISLAND MOSTLY DEALING WITH SHIPPING & PORT MATTERS. A lg. group of more than 50 letters dated around 1826 to & from Freeborn Sisson (1767-1848) of Warren, Rhode Island. 19 Appear to be to Freeborn Sisson w/ 7 being from him. Several letters have Providence, Newport & other postmarks but most do not. All appear to be dealing w/ various shipping & port issues. There are 26 letters to John T. Childs of Warren, Rhode Island most of which appear to have various postmarks from around New England. Letters generally also address shipping & port issues at the wharf in Warren, RI. Letters have interesting historic content & are a reasonably easy read. CONDITION: letters are generally lightly discolored & most have minor tears or wear. A couple of letters have notable damage w/ tears on the fold lines but the vast majority are in solid condition. (02-14975/BF). $800-1,500.
