RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. NSN. Bbl. 30" round w/ heavyweight measuring 15/16" across the muzzle. Bbl. is marked "A. HUBALEK/SPECIAL". Unmarked Ballard action features a full loop lever & may have originally been a no. 6 1/2 off-hand target rifle. Breech block assembly is replaced w/ a Hubalek concealed hammer block having checkered set trigger. Full coverage engraving consists of vine type foliate scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds. Arthur Hubalek of Brooklyn New York was a shooter, piano tuner & bbl. maker. He was a well-known shooter in the early 1900s & gained a reputation for making the best .22 caliber bbls. of his era. Bbl. is fitted w/ sight blocks & scope blocks holding a Redfield 24x target scope no. x01276. Overall scope length is 23 1/2" w/ AO, target turrets & dot reticle. 15" custom beavertail extension forearm w/ hand checkering & accessory rail. Custom walnut target stock features a shadowline cheekpiece, checkered wrist & black gripcap. LOP: 13 3/4" over a checkered steel buttplate & 1/2" of extensions. WEIGHT w/ scope: 13 lbs, 12.2 oz. CONDITION: 97% brightly polished bbl. blue. Action has faded to a pleasing gray showing traces of case colors. Wood has good finish showing scattered small marks. Sound action w/ clean crisp trigger pull. Very good bright bore. Scope has clear optics. (01-25402/DS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
