Cal. 70. S# NSN. The unmarked 40" barrel has faceted breech section and has bushed touch hole. "TOWER" marked flint lock is of later style with rounded tail and inset brass pan. Stock appears to be made of elm and is brass mounted. Buttplate is stamped with the number "7732" on toe. Stock extends to within 2" of muzzle and is held by one driven on brass band at rear. A brass cap is present along with tapered head ramrod and homemade sling loop with old military sling loop on brass trigger guard. CONDITION: good. Iron parts show cleaning to silver gray over considerable pitting. Wood has new oil rubbed into old surfaces. Brass is lightly toned. Bore is pitted. Lock operable but soft. (01-25573/MGM).
