Cal. 7.65mm. S# 848424. Bbl. 4 7/8". Model 4000 semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Spain by Astra in 1964. Top of the slide is marked with the Astra logo over the top of the bbl. with the model designation and Astra's mfg. information marked at the rear. S# is marked on the butt, with "10011" hand-stamped on the right side of the frame. Underside of the trigger guard exhibits a "CAI" import mark. Frame and slide exhibit a blue finish, with small parts being polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Astra checkered mottled brown plastic grips. Blade front sight, with square notch rear sight. MAGS: one 8-rd. CONDITION: frame and slide retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina and some scattered spots of surface oxidation. Grip straps exhibit mild surface oxidation overall. In-the-white parts show spots of age-related discoloration. Pitted bore, retaining fair rifling throughout. Grips show scattered nicks and marks from handling and storage, with the left grip exhibiting a chip at the top left corner of the panel. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Bill Peterken.
