Cal. 7.63mm. S# 15776. Bbl. 5 1/2". Model 900 semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Spain by Astra on March 3rd of 1930, as according to "Astra Firearms and Selected Competitors" by Leonardo M. Antaris. The left side of the sideplate is marked "ASTRA AUTOMATIC PISTOL CAL 763/ PATENTED JULY.12.1928", with Spanish proofs marked on the right side of the frame. Right side of the frame, bbl., and bbl. extension are marked with a Spanish "P" within a flaming ordnance bomb proof. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with some small parts being polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips and features a fixed lanyard ring on the butt. Fixed blade front sight, with V-notch tangent rear sight graduated 50-1000. Nearly all serialized parts are matching via the last 3-digits "776" and include the frame (full S#), floorplate, sideplate, rear takedown pin, bbl. extension, rear sight assembly, locking block, bolt, as well as the grips. Forward takedown pin is mis-matched (S# "364"). CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina, with scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting overall. Bbl. exhibits a few patches of moderate pitting, with consistent mild to moderate pitting present on the frame beneath the grip straps. In-the-white parts show areas of dark age related discoloration. Bore exhibits consistent mild to moderate pitting, while retaining worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Follower spring is broken at the floorplate flat, but still catches and locks the bolt rearward. Grips show smoothing, as well as scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with a few small chips present along the edges on the left panel. (25-3563/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
