NEW BERLIN. Cal. 45 rifled bore. NSN. Bbl. 42" full oct. Overall length 57 1/2". 4 Piece engraved brass patchbox w/ one piercing. Stock has outstanding, beautiful curl & is incised carved to the rear of the cheekpiece. 12 silver inlays & brass 5" comb inlay. Bbl. is wedge fastened to the stock. Lock marked “C. BERG & CO. Philadelphia Warranted" possibly original flintlock w/ dbl. set triggers. There is incised carving on each side at the rear ramrod entrance ferrule. Smith worked in New Berlin, signed his worked “G. S.” & his guns show nice carvings as well as nice brass work. CONDITION: appears to be in excellent condition throughout w/ the exception of the bbl., may have been shortened about 1" from the muzzle. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19583/RG).
