WITH GOLCHER LOCK. Cal. 35. S# NSN. The 36-1/4" full octagon barrel fitted with "U" notch rear and German silver blade front sights is unmarked. Percussion system is drum and nipple. Front spring lock has not been altered and is fitted with flat faced percussion hammer. "JOSh GOLCHER" is stamped at center of plate surrounded by double line borders and stamped in scrolls. Trigger is not set. Attractive fullstock of curly maple that has had burned in enhancement extends to muzzle with brass cap. Stock is pinned to barrel and features classic Roman nose comb and small moulded cheekpiece. Stock is brass mounted and features a simple rectangular patchbox on right side with arched top and inlet side panels. Release button is in 3" return of small crescent buttplate. Trigger guard with squared finials has finger spur. Sideplate is also rectangular. Plain hickory ramrod mounts through two double beaded pipes and matching thimble. CONDITION: good to very good. Iron parts showing old light cleaning with silver highlights to smooth brown barrel and silver gray lock. Brass is nicely toned. Stock retains most of its original finish with some oil added and exhibits hand worn patina at balance point. A 1" stress crack is noted above sideplate otherwise stock is structurally sound. Bore is good with strong rifling, pitted throughout. Lock is good. (01-25590/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
