BOXLOCK EJECTOR LIGHT GAME GUN. Cal. 28 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 146835 (1988). The 28" dovetailed bbls. are engraved "Charles Boswell Gunmaker, London." on a slightly swamped narrow game rib. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ 1988 Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Case-hardened double-Ogee-backed boxlock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold) and dbl. triggers. Action is well filed & engraved, with near-full coverage of large shaded acanthus, which surrounds gold-inlaid semi-releif renditions of birddogs in action, w/ pointing setter standing on a fallen brushy log on the right side with its mate honoring point while standing in an open meadow on the left. Maker's name is engraved on each side. Blued top lever & single-beaded trigger guard are engraved to match. Serial number is on the trigger guard tang. Straight grip buttstock of well marbled European walnut measures 15" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is around grip, and a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching large splinter ejector forend has an Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .557", L .558". Restriction: R .024" (MOD), L .035" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .028", L .035". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/4", DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 15". CAST: approx. 1/2" off WEIGHT: 5 lb. 9 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Bbls. retaining over 95% of the original blue. Action with over 80% original light case hardening color, w/ some silvering on fences & edges. Top lever & trigger guard also show some high-edge wear. Stocks retain nearly all of their original finish with a considerable number of marks and scratches, some fairly heavy, as expected from field use. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight.
