ATTRACTIVE RELIEF GOLD INLAY & ENGRAVING BY M. FLEISCHER AND SCOPE. Cal. 30-06. S# 114557. The 24" tapered round sporter weight barrel is engraved "Paul Jaeger-Jenkintown, PA." on top. Caliber is at left rear. Model 70 pre-64 Winchester action has had bolt stop button expanded and checkered. Bolt knob is checkered and five panels surrounding star on bottom and bolt body engine turned. Bottom metal is coin finished and exhibits some very high quality engraving by master Manfred Fleischer of Germany. On floorplate, a full relief gold white tail buck leaps over a fallen log with trees and undergrowth in background. This fine scene is flanked by scroll and bordered by inlaid gold lines. Scroll and gold are on front bottom metal and trigger guard bow. Engraver's name and date "'85" is under deer scene. Pistol grip stock made from a very attractive piece of well veined and lightly crotch figured European walnut measures 14-1/8" over brown basket weave pad. Stock features Monte Carlo comb, large swept shadow line right hand cheekpiece, ebony forend tip, steel grip cap with scroll engraving gold inlaid with "MJB" monogram. Checkering is very well done in rounded borderless pattern with foliate swirl highlights and ribbons through pattern. Sling eyes are on forend and toeline. Rifle is mounted with Zeiss Diatal-ZA 4X scope with cross hair reticle in Leupold rings that are also engraved and gold inlaid. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: voluminous information about Paul Jaeger and his work along with correspondence to the building of this rifle and three others. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Appears essentially unfired since custom building with only one or two of the smallest handling marks visible on right side of butt. Bore is bright sharp and shiny. Mechanically smooth. Scope is also very fine; optically clear. (25-1527/MGM). MODERN. $4,000-6,000.
