ARMY REVOLVER WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 44 SPCL. S# SA47819. Bbl 4 3/4". Third generation Single Action Army revolver chambered in .44 Special manufactured by Colt in 1981. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .44 SPECIAL", with Colt's single line address across the top in gold colored filler. Left side of frame bears patent information, followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Frame exhibits a case color hardened finish, with the frame screws, cylinder, barrel, ejector rod housing, trigger, and grip straps exhibiting a lustrous reapplied blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2 piece Colt black checkered plastic grips. All numbers are matching and are present on the frame, cylinder, grip straps, as well as on the interior of the grip panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter indicating that this example was 1 of 4 revolvers shipped to Valley Gun Distributors Inc. in Northridge, CA on May 21st of 1981. Factory letter includes an additional remark, reading "The records further indicate that subject revolver was returned to the factory for various repairs. The work was completed on repair order numbers 47906 and 49534. Subject revolver was then shipped to Michael G. Veitch in Star, Idaho on June 4, 2015". CONDITION: excellent, with the frame retaining strong case coloring overall, with a small spot of pitting present on the top strap. Blued components are excellent, retaining the vast majority of their professionally reapplied lustrous blue finish, showing few superficial marks from handling and storage. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good overall. An extremely attractive third generation Colt Single Action Army revolver. (23-1730/MLW).
