DWM P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 3934u. Bbl. 3 15/16". P.08 Luger produced by DWM during the Weimar era for police use. The bbl. extension is blank over the chamber, with the right side exhibiting a triad of significantly softened proofs consisting of a droop eagle (repeated on left side of breechblock), an apparent droop eagle over "WaA4" proof, and an eagle firing proof. Right side of bbl. exhibits an apparent uncoded Simson droop eagle proof. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram logo. Front grip strap is police unit marked "L.Ar.217.", indicating issue to the Landjagerei of the Arnsberg district. Metal components exhibit an apparent police arsenal applied blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Markings exhibit notable/proper distention, save for the aforementioned proofs on the bbl. extension. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. Left side of bbl. extension is fitted with a Schiwy safety. Left side of frame is fitted with a Walther mag. safety, which exhibits a welded repair to restore functionality. All serialized parts are matching in the "hidden" commercial fashion, and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, bbl., and rear toggle link. MAGS: x1 plated plated 8-rd. with aluminum plug. Plug has been renumbered (possibly during the period) and is marked "2/ 3934" above a droop eagle proof. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their police arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear, as well as a few patches of mild wear and thinning that is fading to gray and brown patinas (primarily present on front and rear grips straps). Strawed parts retain large amounts of their finish, showing some light to mild wear fading to gray patina, as well as scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the repaired/restored Walther mag. safety. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some scattered nicks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (25-6086/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
