TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# U530. Bbl. 28" of heavy profile having Parker Hale FS22A globe front sight (circle on post disk) plus matching "PH17" marked receiver sight having target disk with adjustable aperture. Mfg. in South Australia with action having Kangaroo image on top front; commonly referred to as "Sportco" as marked on barrel. In 1965, Jack Warne (Kimber of Oregon fame) and his business partner purchased 65,000 Model 310 Cadet rifles and converted them to target and sporting rifles such as this one. Sold to many British influenced countries and the US. Stained hardwood stock set consisting of pistol gripped buttstock having Monte Carlo shape and Sportco smooth black plastic buttplate (noticeably proud on right side) plus sling swivel. Target style forend is flat on bottom with accessory rail and brass PH sight disk container complete with disk assortment. Forend is retained by one large screw at rear; glass bedded giving full float except at rear. Takedown action has no markings of any kind other than the Kangaroo and "BNP" proofs. CONDITION: very good overall appearance with the barrel looking much newer than the receiver; sharp markings. Action nicely refinished having some very slight thinning on trigger guard and lever from use. Stock set has light marks and finish wear. Poorly fitted buttplate, yet it's oversized allowing ample material for proper fitting. Light oxidation on sling swivel. Near excellent bore. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. (26-783/NW). CURIO. $400-600.
