Cal. 70. S# 48. Bbl. 33". Smoothbore. Austrian made musket commonly known as the "Garibaldi" due to use by Italian revolutionaries. Bbl. & lock both numbered "48". Several other parts have an assembly number that appears to be "V7". Bbl. is marked "CP" at top & on right side. Balance of metal finished bright w/ brass Jager style triggerguard & buttplate. Ladder rear sight graduated to 500 Schritt. Blade front sight. Front right of bbl. has bayonet mount. Beech stock w/ bottom mounted sling swivels. Cheek piece has an old name lightly carved into it. Tulip shaped ramrod present. CONDITION: beech stock shows a crack behind upper tang, the expected scattered dings & handling marks. In the white surfaces appear to have been cleaned w/ scattered oxidation, dings, pitting & edge wear. Brass surfaces also appear cleaned w/ scattered dings, oxidation & pitting. Oxidized bore.
