Cal. 11mm Berdan. S# 35937. Bbl. 32 1/2". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1500 Arshins. Bolt parts are mismatched. Bbl. has Tula markings in Russian with 1884 date. Hardwood stock set with partly faded 1886 roundel on right side of butt & strong WW1 Austrian "W" marking indicating capture by Austro-Hungarian forces. Ramrod present that is likely a replacement. CONDITION: stock has added finish with some small cracks behind upper tang, a few chips, scattered finish loss, dings, gouges, handling marks & scratches. Metal is an overall dull gray color with some varnish overrun, scattered pitting, oxidation, dings, handling marks & edge wear. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Good bright bore with scattered frosting & pitting but strong rifling. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (01-28416/MJC). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
