SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Steyr. S# 8765m. Bbl. 5". Steyr-Hahn Model 1912 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Steyr in 1916. Left side of the slide is marked with the S#, followed by "STEYR 1916". Right side of the frame is marked with a poorly stamped "Wn (Austrian Eagle) 16" Austrian military acceptance proof. Austrian "K" inspection proofs are present overall. Frame and slide exhibit what appears to be an arsenal reapplied blue finish, with remaining components either being polished in-the-white or strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, with each panel being inlaid with a German 1942 dated Reichspfennig coin. Standard fixed blade front sight, with integral V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: spare set of reproduction checkered wood grips. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their arsenal blue finish, showing areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina (primarily on the slide, front grip strap, and trigger guard), with scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting present overall. Strawed parts retain traces of their finish, with in-the-white parts showing scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bore exhibits a frosted appearance, showing consistent light pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips show smoothing, a few impressions and minor chips, as well as scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Reproduction grips are excellent. (25-3536/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
