Cal. 45. NSN. Oct. 30.75" bbls. German silver blade front sight & elevator adj. rear sight. Right side of bottom barrel stamped "B LOSEY". Top of barrel appears to have script "JH" Per "American Gunsmiths" by Frank Sellers, B Losey was a barrel maker from Caroline, New York circa 1850-1864. Sides of barrel have pipes for 2 hardwood ramrods. Right side percussion lock has single trigger that can fire both hammers; bottom hammer uses triggerguard as spring. Walnut buttstock w/ brass sideplate, crescent buttplate, toeplate & patchbox. Pewter end cap. German silver buck in on left side. CONDITION: balance of barrel & lock is brown patina with cleaned pitting around breech, brazing around ramrod pipes & spots of corrosion. Wood has good finish with handling marks. Brass shows patina with marks. Dark pitted bores. Lock appears mechanically fine. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (01-27474/MD). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
