Cal. 44 RF. S# 1854. Bbl. 22" oct. to rnd. Reverse mounted Rocky Mountain front sight w/ German silver blade. Military 2 leaf rear sight. Top flat has Ball & Williams marking, left side has Merwin & Bray agent marking. 1 Piece breech block. Blue finished bbl. & action. Manual extractor. Band fastened walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ carbine buttplate & sling swivels. Most of production went to fill Civil War military orders. Left side of breech block, lower tang & inside forearm channel are marked "32". CONDITION: bbl. retains 60% dull fading blue showing spots of corrosion. Action has faded to gray. Sanded & refinished wood w/ handling marks. Forearm has chips & crack along bbl. channel w/ added screw hole on right side forward of action. Stock is split through the wrist & comb areas w/ open hole for screw type repair & has additional sm. cracks from buttplate. Bore retains strong rifling showing sm. spots of light pitting. (01-18181/DS). ANTIQUE. $900-1,400.
