RIFLE. Cal. 9x57mm. S# 14196. Bbl 25". Model 1900 bolt action rifle manufactured by C.G. Haenel for commercial sales. The breech end of the barrel is marked "C.G. HAENEL SUHL. GERMANY." in silver characters over the top flat, with a star above "BOHLERSTAHL" on the left and right sides. The receiver exhibits panels of fine stippling, with a lightly embellished section on the left side of the chamber reading "2,9 gG.B.P./ St m,G" followed by a small 3-pointed crown above "H". Underside of receiver and barrel exhibit the serial number "14196" and various inspector and commercial proofs, with the barrel also exhibiting a small C.G. Haenel logo. Floorplate is engraved "D.R. PATENT/ HAENEL SUHL". "D.R.G.M." is stamped on the rear of the bolt, left side of the bolt stop, as well as on the bolt body. The receiver, trigger guard, floorplate, and buttplate feature a case color hardened finish, with the barrel exhibiting a blued finish. Bolt assembly is in-the-white. 1 piece checkered round knob stock with schnabel tip forend. Barrel features a faceted breech end, solid matte rib, dual German silver blade and German silver beaded front sights, as well as a dovetailed Lyman rear sight. Spoon handle bolt with knurling on cocking piece and flip-up aperture rear sight. Double set triggers. Disassembly shows an all matching rifle, small parts matching via the last 2 digits of the serial number "96". Full serial number is present on the receiver, barrel, and buttplate. CONDITION: receiver exhibits wear and fading to its exposed case color hardened finish, with protected areas retaining bountiful amounts of vibrant case coloring. Trigger guard, floorplate, and buttplate exhibit wear overall to gray patina, with some areas of discoloration and some small spots of oxidation. Bolt exhibits scattered spots of darker discoloration. Barrel retains the majority of its original factory bluing, exhibiting mild wear and thinning overall that shows through to a pleasant brown patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, but is otherwise very good overall.
