ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 38. S# 170200. Bbl. 6". Phenomenal Colt U.S. Army Model of 1901 with 6" bbl. having a half moon front sight and slotted rear sight. Bbl. marked with the 2-line Colt address on top. Caliber marked on left side. Model and S# on butt divided by rotatable lanyard ring. Matching last 3-digits on frame inner frame, cyl. crane, cyl. latch, with both grips matching in pencil with the last 4-digits. As a military revolver it was "R.A.C." inspected on the left side of the frame, with initials repeated on the rear face of the cyl. and bottom of the left grip. Other military markings include the production year (left grip panel) and a boxed cartouche initials on each panel. Finished with a mirror bright blue. Many of the small parts fire blued, including the hammer (sides polished bright), trigger, and all screws. Lanyard ring is color case hardened. CONDITION: excellent, with 95-97% bright factory blue, with comparable condition fire blued small parts, showing no enhancement, and crisply cartouched grips. Mirror bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. An absolutely wonderful U.S. Army Model of 1901, that would be difficult to improve upon. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Edward Scott Meadows. (24-692/LMA).
