PRODUCTION COLT MODEL 1877 LIGHTNING DA REVOLVER. Cal. .38 Long Colt. S# 1946. Bbl 3 1/2" with bright blade front side & "COLT D.A. 38" in etched panel. Blued steel bbl, grip frame & 6-shot fluted cylinder. Cylinder shows crown over "V" London proofs. Case hardened frame. Hammer sides polished bright. 2-Piece checkered hard rubber grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: English oak hinged case with brass disk inset in top. Case lined with blue velvet having empty cartridge block, two compartments with combination tool. Inside of lid has label marked "Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co. 14 Pall Mall S.W. London". Top of lid has two old added stickers (see photo). Colt Factory letter stating the following: "Serial Number: 1946 / Caliber: .38/c / Barrel Length: 3 1/2" / Finish: Blue / Type of Stocks: Not Listed / Shipped To: Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Mfg. Company London Agency / Address: London, England / Date of Shipment: October 15, 1877 / Number of Same Guns in Shipment: 50". CONDITION: blue metal parts retain 95% original finish with light scratches on bottom of bbl from removing cylinder rod. Front and sides of trigger have worn mostly bright. Bbl has exceptionally strong etched panel. Frame retains 98% bright and vivid original case colors. Right side of frame ahead of cylinder shows area of worn color. Cylinder does not rotate. Very good bore with a lightly frosted appearance. Casing is sound with light age wear. (01-24253/BH). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
