BISLEY MODEL FLAT TOP TARGET REVOLVER, ATTRIBUTED TO ALVIN WHITE. Cal. 38-40. S# 318792. Bbl. 5 1/2". Mfg. in 1911. Left side of frame is marked "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871./ JULY 2.72.JAN.19.75", followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Frame features near full coverage scroll engraving, featuring scrollwork on punch dot backgrounds as well as wavy line & dot designs, which extend to the cyl., bbl., ejector rod housing, trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Cyl. features 2 gold bands at the rear, with the bbl. featuring a single gold band at the muzzle and breech ends. Metal components exhibit a professionally reapplied blue finish. Top strap has been inletted to accommodate a full length vent rib that features a matte stippled top flat, pinned white natural beaded blade front sight, and adj. U-notch rear sight. Frame is mounted with 2-piece pearl grips. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, cyl., trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Frame and loading gate exhibit matching assembly # "636". CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their finely reapplied blue finish, showing few light superficial handling marks overall. Cyl. shows no dragline. Very bright bore, exhibiting shallow rifling. Proper manual mechanics (tested with cyl. was out of frame). Grips are near excellent, showing few light superficial handling marks. An extremely attractive custom engraved SAA Bisley attributed to Alvin White. (25-4919/MLW). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
