1) BELGIAN ALPHONSE BERNARD ENGRAVED. Cal. 16 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 8006. The twist 27 3/8" bbls. has brass front post, concave game rib & pre 1893 Belgian proofs. Top rib has retailer engraving "Fr. P Devigne a Paris". Sling swivel base on bottom rib. Bore chokes appear to measure CYL. LeFaucheaux back action locks with round body action having deep relief floral & scroll engraving that extends to forearm, underlever, finger curl triggerguard. Straight grip walnut stock w/ toeline sling swivel. LOP: 13" to steel buttplate. CONDITION: barrel s& lock have brown/gray patina appearance with sm. dents, spots of corrosion & marks. Sanded & refinished stock has large break through wrist that attached to lock & tangs with copper wire. Stock also exhibits areas of epoxy repair, dings & hairline cracks from grain knots. Pitted bores. Locks appear mechanically fine. (01-27817/MD). 2) BRITISH WALTER SCOTT OF BIRMINGHAM. Cal. 12 Ga. (Proofed for "13" bore). S# 712. Per "British Gunmakers Vol. Two - Birmingham, Scotland & the Regions" by Nigel Brown: Walter Scott was a gunmaker on 47a Princip St., Birmingham 1872, 47 Princip St. 1873 & 15 Sand St. circa 1873. London Laminated steel barrels appears cut down to 26" w/ filler in vacant areas between ribs at muzzle. Brass gauge measures chokes at Mod & IC. Chambers appear to be reamed to allow 2 3/4" shells. Water tables have pre 1875 Birmingham proofs. Anson & Deeley style action w/ sculpted fences, rebounding hammers & figured triggerguard having opening for opening lever that rests in the front bow. Action, triggerguard & hammers have sprays of acanthus scroll engraving accented with geometric pattern borders. Engraving extends to forearm iron & Deeley release. Splinter walnut forearm with horn tip. Round knob long tang pistol grip buttstock w/ brass oval toeline name plate & sling eye; corresponding sling eye on bottom rib. LOP: 12 7/8" to skeletonized buttplate with checkering to exposed butt. CONDITION: barrels have gray patina appearance with laminate patterns visible, spots of cleaned pitting & spots of patina. Faint case colors in protected areas of action with balance gray patina showing scratches. Fair worn wood finish showing numerous handling marks, areas of heavy scratches, sm. chips & scattered sm. cracks. Bores show pitting forward of chambers. Appears mechanically fine. (01-28287/MD). ALL ANTIQUE. $500-800.
