SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 GA, 2 3/4". S# 1G39356. Bbl. 23 5/8". A5 Light Twelve semi-automatic shotgun mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale and imported by Browning Arms Company in 1961. Left side of the bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information above the cal. designation and Belgian commercial proofs, with "MADE IN BELGIUM" marked on the right. Sides of receiver feature standard engraving consisting of wavy line borders and sections of foliate scrollwork. Left side of the receiver is engraved "Light Twelve" above the Browning trademark logo and a portrait of John Moses Browning. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt assembly which is polished in-the-white, as well as the trigger which exhibits a gold plated finish. Checkered and finger grooved wood forearm and rnd. knob buttstock with black synthetic FN buttplate. Wood furniture appears to have been sanded and refinished at one time. Toeline of buttstock and front of mag. tube cap exhibit added sling swivel studs. Buck special bbl. features rifle style ramped, dovetailed, and brass beaded blade front sight and square notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear, an area of fading at contact point on underside of receiver, as well as scattered spots and patches of light surface oxidation and pitting. Bore is bright, exhibiting large sections of apparent hardened firing residue. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the forearm exhibiting a long crack on the left side that stems from the receiver. (26-1746/MLW). CURIO. $350-550.
