RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 3T53686. Bbl. 19 3/8". SA-22 semi-automatic takedown rifle mfg. in Belgium and imported by Browning Arms Company in 1963. Top of bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information above "MADE IN BELGIUM", with "22 LONG RIFLE" and Belgian proofs marked on left, as well as "BROWNING PATENTS" marked on the right. Sides of the receiver are engraved with a wavy line border that features a foliate motif present at the center. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. Checkered wood pistol grip buttstock and forend. Brass beaded blade front sight with flip-up U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting a few small spots of wear, some small scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation, as well as a couple of small spots of finish loss on the right side of the bbl. from prior cleaning. Receiver exhibits a few scattered nicks and superficial handling marks, with two small spots of marring at the front of the sight grooves. Very bright bore, exhibiting good rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Jim Williams. (24-2719/MLW).
