RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 3T54534. Bbl. 19 3/8". SA-22 semi-automatic takedown rifle mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale and imported by Browning Arms Company in 1963. Top of the bbl. is marked with Browning importer information above "MADE IN BELGIUM", with the cal. designation marked on the left, and "BROWNING'S PATENT" marked on the right. Underside of bolt is marked with a triad of Belgian commercial proofs, with additional proofing present on the left side of the bbl. (partially obscured by wood line). Sides of the receiver feature standard Grade I pattern engraving, consisting of wavy line borders and foliate motifs at the center of the panels, with a small foliate motif engraved on the underside of the trigger guard bow. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. Glossy finished checkered wood forearm and pistol grip buttstock with grooved blued steel buttplate. Standard dovetailed and brass beaded blade front sight and dovetailed flip-up U-notch rear sight. Top of the receiver is grooved for scope mount attachment. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light superficial handling marks, as well as some small scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting. Bolt exhibits scattered spots of age related discoloration. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows some superficial marks from handling and storage, with flaking to the finish present around the peak of the buttplate. (25-6795/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
