Cal. 9x23mm Largo. S# 16069. Bbl. 4". Bergmann Bayard Model 1910 in Herstal, Belgium, by Anciens Etablissements Pieper while under German occupation during WWI. Left side of the bbl. extension is marked "BREVETE/ S.G.D.G.", followed by "ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS PIEPER/ HERSTAL-LIEGE./ BERGMANN'S PATENT.". Frame, bbl., and bbl. extension are devoid of any proof marks, indicating mfg. under German occupation. Frame, bbl., bbl. extension, and mag. exhibit a blue finish overall, with small components being in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. All serialized components are matching, which include the frame and bbl. extension (on underside of lug). Blade front sight with V-notch rear sight. MAGS: one 6-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of moderate wear and thinning, with light surface oxidation and pitting present overall. In-the-white components exhibit dark surface oxidation and areas of age-related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting mild to moderate degrees of pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit marks and impressions from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-4131/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-2,000.
