LANCASTER WITH LOM CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-1/2". S# 14290 (1927). The 29" chopper lump barrels are engraved "CHARLES LANCASTER 99 MOUNT STREET BERKELEY SQUARE. LONDON." on narrow swamped game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2-1/2" chambers, actual measure 2-5/8". Bottoms of barrels are stamped with S#'s and "CL". Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences and features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), bushed strikers and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage nicely cut classic rose and scroll. Bottom of action is engraved "CHARLES" "LANCASTER" "LONDON" on folded ribbon surrounded by roses. Blued top lever and trigger guard are engraved with matching scroll. S# is on trigger guard tang. Very nicely marbled and somewhat fiddle figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15-1/8" over checkered wood butt. Stock features drop points, point pattern checkering which flows over top of grip and around trigger guard tang, as well as a gold oval on toeline engraved "B.P.". Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .729. R .729. Restriction: L .024 (mod). R .009 (ic). Wall thickness: L .029. R .028. STOCK: DAH: 2". DAC: 1-7/16". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 15-1/8". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 5 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes with a good quality tan leather leg-o-mutton case which is unmarked excepted for "MADE IN SPAIN" on small end cap. CONDITION: very fine. Appears to have been used very little, but shows some evidence of improper storage with light sprinkling of salt and pepper rusting which has been cleaned. Otherwise, barrels retain well over 95% original blue; action and locks about 70-80% case hardening color. Top lever has most of its original blue. Trigger guard shows loss do to flaking and is at about 30%. Stocks retain nearly all of their original oil finish with some scattered marks and scratches some fairly heavy on right side of butt. Checkering is lightly worn. There is a 1/2" chip of wood missing from left barrel channel near tip of forend. Bores are bright and shiny without any noted problems. Action is tight. Barrels on face. Ejectors strong and in time. Case leather is still bright; with some bumps and scratches. Stitching of small end cap strap is detached. A solid gun that measures perfectly and has good dimensions. (25-3422/MGM). CURIO. $4,000-9,000.
