This stone represents what appears to be a bird’s head w/ bulging eyes possibly used as an amulet or talisman. The reddish hued stone somewhat resembles jasper. Each end of the stone has a hole that could be used for suspension or attachment. There is an attached note that reads in part, “Bird stone found 5 miles north of Anderson, Indiana. Stone was purchased from Arnold Hall from Marthasville, Missouri who bought it from the William Boyd estate.” CONDITION: bird shows expected overall wear w/ some minor chipping around suspension/attachment bowls.
