ACTION TRAINING RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# AM574. Bbl. 25 1/4". Originally mfg. as a standard SHTLE No. 1MK III* by Birmingham Small Arms in 1916, this example was subsequently converted into a No. 2 MK 4 single-shot bolt-action training rifle. The right side of the receiver socket is marked with a crown over "G.R" as well as "BSA / 1916" over the original model designation. Right side of the receiver is C.A.I. import-marked and is marked with the model designation. The bbl. exhibits various British proof marks, with the top flat being marked "PARKER-HALE / BIRMINGHAM". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Wood furniture with a brass buttplate. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, bolt, and nose cap. MAGS: proper, non-functional hollow mag. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of reapplied arsenal blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that shows through to gray and brown patinas, with scattered spots of pitting both below and above the finish overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of mild pitting, and retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture exhibits scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, with a couple of arsenal repairs present overall.
