FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 44-40. S# 81741. Bbl. 4 3/4" with Hartford, CT address, marked "44" at the bottom. Six-shot fluted cyl. Black powder frame; left side is stamped "E". Front grip stamp behind trigger guard has stippled "E". Period aftermarket 2-piece ivory grips with raised buffalo skull on right panel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter stating the following: "Serial Number: 81741 / Caliber: 44-40 / Barrel Length: Not Listed / Type of Stocks: Not Listed / Shipped To: Hartley & Graham / Address: New York, New York / Date of Shipment: August 30, 1882 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment: 50". CONDITION: cleaned metal shows dents and marks. Front blade sight is removed. Toe of right grip panel has a small repaired chip at the toe. Action shows some wear.
