9.5” x 3.5”, thread & sinew sewn, rawhide fringed two-layer deer & buffalo hide, full coverage “4 Winds” design with dark blue, turquoise, transparent red, transparent yellow, and white beads. Blacksmith made 12” dag, 6.5” blade made from file, medial ridge, 1.75” thick, pewter inset design. This sheath from the Floyd Ritter collection is pictured on page 3 with no knife of John Baldwin’s 1997 text “EARLY KNIVES & BEADED SCABBARDS OF THE AMERICAN FRONTIER”. The sheath is also pictured bottom of page 43 with different dag. CONDITION: very good overall, small loss of beads, especially at throat. Blade has dark iron patina with sharpening, rounded point.
