Cal. 16 Ga. 2-9/16"/8x57JR (.320 groove dia). S# NSN. The 27" barrel set is fitted with full length matted rib holding pop-up rear and silver bead front sights. Claw scope bases are fitted. Tops of barrels are engraved with maker's name and address (Viernau). Rear portions of barrels also state steel type in hand engraved logos with deer heads and foliage. Barrel flats are stamped with pre-WWI German nitro proofs. Blued scalloped back Blitz action has side safety, rifle selector on top tang, pin cocking indicators, crossbolt third fastener, side clips and double triggers (front set). Action is engraved with Germanic acanthus scroll and game scenes on sides; stag and hind on left, roebuck and doe on right. Trigger guard is horn and tang extends to hard rubber grip cap. Stump figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/8" over hard rubber buttplate and features shadow line right hand cheekpiece, point pattern checkering and a cartridge trap on toeline secured by sling loop. Matching splinter forend has Deeley release. Drilling is accompanied by what appears to be its original Gerard 4X scope with three post retical in claw rings, rear with windage. A tan leather sling is also present. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .667. R .667. Restriction: L .030 (full). R .031 (full). Wall thickness: L .030. R .030. STOCK: DAH: 3". DAC: 1-5/8". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 14-1/8". WEIGHT without scope: 7 lb. 9 oz. CONDITION: good as refinished. Metal parts retaining over 95% correct type re-blue. Stocks with most of an older oil refinish; sharp edges somewhat rounded. Checkering shows wear and has not been re-cut. Bores are bright and shiny. Rifle with sharp rifling throughout. Scope is good, refinished, optically good. Stock appears to have spread and has retaining bolt through cheeks and a repaired crack behind action on left. Action is tight. Mechanically good.
